Intersoft System's fdPOWER software is specifically designed for the unique requirements of the funeral industry in New Zealand and Australia. Designed to enhance your business and work the way you do, reflecting the individual nature of each Funeral Home, whilst helping present your business the way you wish to.

fdPOWER is the fourth major re-development of the system since 1988, and reflects the close association Intersoft has with its many Funeral Director clients, industry suppliers and Dealers. For example, regular contact with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia (Sydney) has enabled our systems to work together, reducing costs and time - for both parties.

fdPOWER is designed to assist the Funeral Director in the key areas of their business. It can reflect the individual nature and workflow of the Funeral Director's business and assist in the productivity, presentation and business analysis processes, all the while embracing the latest technology advancements. fdPOWER assists the Funeral Director to better manage and operate their business.

Features

Arrangement Recording
In fdPOWER, Arrangement Types and screen layouts have been defined allowing the recording of relevant information, building up a complete file on the Arrangement - from notification of death through to funeral, burial or cremation information, to the charges for the invoice, presented in a manner which is easy to follow and enquire on.

If the standard information requires changing, various fdPOWER Editor Add-On's can be purchased enabling the screens, data tables, libraries, and Arrangement Types to be customised to meet individual Funeral Home requirements.

Arrangement Forms, Letters and Documentation
fdPOWER reduces the tedious form preparation that is associated with Arrangements. The system allows for the generation and re-generation of Statutory Forms at 'the touch of a button', and can also be used to create customised forms, letters and documentation specific to each Funeral Director's needs.

Invoicing
While working with an Arrangement, charges can be entered from a standard Charges Library, ready for invoicing. These charges can include stock items, professional services fees and disbursements. When printing the invoice, using the powerful formatting features of MS Word, fdPOWER can produce an invoice reflecting each Funeral Director's unique style and requirements.

Accounting System Integration
fdPOWER can integrate to Intersoft Accounting software and selected third party accounting systems. This reduces time spent re-keying data and data entry errors.

EDI Interface
The EDI Interface facility allows a file to be created for transmission to the NSW Registry for "Death Registration" and "Request for Death Certificate" purposes. This time saving facility is currently only offered in NSW. As other Registries offer these services, fdPOWER will be expanded to incorporate them.

Microsoft Word Integration
fdPOWER uses the formatting power of MS Word for many of its forms, documentation and Invoices. A range of forms and documents can be created which have a consistent professional image (all using the information recorded in the system), such as Burial Applications, Crematorium Applications, Ministerial Records, Day Sheets, Quotations, and many more.

Definable Page Layouts
Arrangement information is entered into a series of "Pages". Each screen or "Page" can be altered with the Page Editor Add-On to more closely reflect the information required. Each "Page" can include drop-down lists of pre-selected items, tickboxes for choices, text and notes fields, 'tool tips', and even a photo of the Deceased!

fdPOWER is a powerful management tool and can assist with analysing business trends as well as day-to-day analysis and measurements.

Standard Comprehensive Reporting
A range of standard reports are included in the system. These include Arrangement Reports, Invoice Reports, EDI Status and List Reports.

Open Integration
fdPOWER stores information using Microsoft's Jet Database. This is the same database "engine" behind MS Access and means you can use third party tools to create your own customised reports and charts for analysis purposes, as well as MS Access, MS Excel and MS Word.

Modular Design
fdPOWER is completely modular in design allowing you to initially purchase only the features (Add-On's) and arrangement capacity (Arrangement Credits) needed at that time. As your business needs change, further Add-On's can be purchased. Arrangement Credits balance the cost of the system to the number of funerals you carry out, making fdPOWER affordable at all levels.



Add-On's
fdPOWER is comprised of a base system and a number of Add-Ons. Currently, the list of Add-Ons include:

  • Library Editor - to change the standard Charge Types, Employee Types and Name Types.

  • Table Editor - to alter the standard database tables and fields.

  • Page Editor - to alter the way the screens look and where they appear in the sequence.

  • Arrangement Types - to assign new or change standard Arrangement Types, eg Repatriations.

  • Editor Combo Pack includes Library, Table and Page Editors and Arrangement Types Add-Ons.

  • Branch Editor - for assigning Arrangements to individual branches.

  • EDI Interface - for communication with the BDM Registry (currently only NSW offers this facility).

  • Third Party Accounting Export - for sending accounting data to third party accounting systems where available.

  • Hebrew Date - provides Hebrew date capabilities as well as Georgian dates.

Cemetery Planner Add-on
The new Cemetery Planner add-on to fdPOWER means fdPOWER no longer just handles the requirements of the Funeral Industry but now also handles the requirements of Cemeteries and Crematoria. 

Cemeteries / Memorial Gardens are divided into Sections/Areas, with Rows and Lots/Sites then assigned within each Section. Information relating to the deceased (or the pre-purchase of a site) is then recorded and allocated to a specific Lot. Using a Windows Explorer type tool, graphical representations of any area can be easily generated. 

Register Add-on
This new feature allows fdPOWER to log and track certain events; for example as an Ashes Register, the events associated with the Ashes are logged. fdPOWER can scan the Arrangements looking for a particular status then produce various documents and log them in the Register. For example, letters according to status and last letter sent might be generated. 

Pre-Need Add-on
This new facility allows fdPOWER to fully manage Pre-Need/Pre-Paid Arrangements. Simply record the details associated with the Funeral Plan/Bond. fdPOWER can produce the relevant paperwork including the contract document and record details of the pre-payment(s). For those Pre-Need Arrangements that are being paid off by instalments, let fdPOWER assist with managing the instalments as they fall due or overdue. For Australian users, fdPOWER will even assist by calculating the GST obligations associated with Pre-Paid Funerals. 

When the Arrangement becomes 'At Need' simply change the status of the Arrangement from 'Pre-Need' to 'At Need', update the applicable information and produce the necessary paper work for the funeral including the claim form for the Pre-Paid Fund Provider. fdPOWER keeps track of whether a gain or loss has been made on the funeral and allow refunds of gains to be returned to the family if applicable. 

Where the Family have requested additional items outside of the contracted supply, fdPOWER can produce a separate invoice for the family.

Behind fdPOWER is, of course, smart technology. In presenting fdPOWER, Intersoft have used up-to-date, industry standard Windows(tm) technology (with it's point and click, and presentation features), Microsoft's database products (for ease of use, and access from other compliant applications) and Microsoft's Word for letters and documents (using information directly from the database!). All familiar and easy to use tools.

Ongoing Development
fdPOWER will continue to be developed ensuring that the latest trends and tools are available for the Funeral Director.

System Requirements
fdPOWER requires Windows 98(tm) or Windows NT 4(tm) or higher operating environment. Minimum recommended configuration for fdPOWER is a Pentium II class CPU with 64Mb RAM and 800x600 video resolution. The amount of disk space required will vary based on the number of arrangements stored and the amount of information stored in each arrangement. MS Word is required for the production of forms and documentation.
